The Road to World Championships

Well, we are on our way. Dayton, here we come! We registered today for our WGI regionals and championships. We will be traveling to Nashville, Atlanta, and of course, Dayton.
We will also be competing within the SCGC, which will take us to Lawrenceburg, Clarksville, and championships, which will be in Nashville, or Chattanooga.
Our rehearsals begin on November 2nd. I cannot believe we have to wait an entire month before we are together again. But, it is Fall marching season, and most of our members march for their schools. We also have members who are Fall instructors...good luck at your marching competitions!!
Here is our cast list, as of today. We may have a few additions in November.
Jana Pate, Jennifer Cooper, Amye Henry, Jose Rodriguez, Maria Rodriguez, Emily Mowers, Courtney VanGunda, Midori Eng, Bre Henriksen, Hannah Bowden, Seidi Lopez, Madison Stewart, and Sara Woodard. Congratulations!!

Auditions were held yesterday and went extremely well. We saw alot of new faces and were delighted at the talent level of these performers. We are looking forward to a successful season and alot of fun on the road to World Championships. Many thanks to all who came out to audition. We hope that everyone had a positive experience.
Our regular rehearsal schedule begins in November and we are excited to get started. Plans are underway for the show and an announcement will be made soon. Keep checking back to see what is going on behind the scenes with the Capella Winterguard. Keep spinning. M. Abe

Just a Couple More Days
Here we are, just a couple of days away from auditions. Be sure you have everything you need. Also, if you are bringing friends who have not registered, that is GREAT! They can still register online or can fill out the registration form when they get there, BUT....they must have all of the release forms with them at auditions or they will not be able to participate.

Ripley Invitational
I was lucky enough to have Sara and Heath invite me to attend the Ripley Invitational this evening. I got to hang out with my favorite high school band....Cadets of Cordova. It was great seeing the kids. I love them and they greeted me with lots of hugs. The band has returned to their classic Cadet uniform including the braids. They looked fashionable and old school. Shout out to Welshman....I agree! Bring the Eagles back!! Love to Max, Aysha, and Dennis. Sharp, professional, FIERCE!
I adore my guard girls. They looked absolutely gorgeous in their new costumes and the flags were spectacular. Great work girls....you performed beautifully and I was so proud to be there, cheering you on. Shout out to Ami....way to flash the crowd, girl. You made me proud. I will post the pics I took of you guys when I can figure out how to get them off my phone. I am challenged. We raced home before awards because it is Sara's 21st birthday, and she had her birthday party goers, waiting anxiously for her to arrive. I will give an update on score results when I get them.
Other thoughts: Nice to see Jennifer Cooper and the Bartlett Band! Ripley is definitely not the same show as it has been in the past eight years. Small crowd, no picnics on the grassy knoll, plenty of seating in the stands. I did not see any rice krispie treats or baked goods made by southern women. We got there late and parked at the front door. That never happened in the past. The Ripley kids were gracious as always. They finally figured out that it was unsafe to have the bands scale the hills down to the termite eaten "troll bridge" to enter the field. Great decision. The field condition was excellent. Chemlawn must have charged them a fortune. Gorgeous green grass. The weather was perfect. Not too cool. Not too windy. Lovely. One of the early performing bands played Jungle Boogie and Papa Was a Rolling Stone. I grooved to the jam, up in the parking lot. Also, saw some chartreuse, which is always one of my favorite choices for guard uniforms. :) There was a great variety of interesting choices in spandex, sequins, and poly china silk, as always.
I will give an update once I have more info on the results. Just wanted to get my "HOLLA!" out to the kids. Good job. Love you. M. Abe

Carol Who?
I subscribed to the DCI Semifinals webcast and Sara and Heath came over to watch it with me. When we were viewing the Colts' show, (Holla! to Coop) I commented that it was the "Carol Channing" show. They said, "Carol who?. Blasphemy. She was a huge broadway star and the original Hello Dolly, for goodness sake. Although, in my opinion, she had no talent, and Barbra did the role much better on the big screen. One of my favorite musicals of all time. Anyhoo....I was reading a magazine this morning and found this picture of Ms. Channing and just had to share this story with you. Judge for yourself.
